Before The Magnolia Pancake Haus became what it is today, it was a dream. A dream of Robert & Sheila Fleming's to create a restaurant that conveyed their passion for great food, and also a lifestyle that would blend with their young family. The food part was easy as Robert’s philosophy of quality & consistency had laid the foundation for The Magnolia Pancake Haus. Upon opening the doors in 2000, the word quickly spread and San Antonians came to see what all the buzz was about. The Original Haus soon became too small to accommodate the guests coming through the door and in 2006 The Magnolia Pancake Haus moved across the parking lot into what as an old roller rink and an expanded Magnolia was born.
Then in 2011 the call came from Guy Fieri’s, Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, that the restaurant would be featured on an episode airing Halloween night 2011. After that all hollow's eve night, the crowds came from everywhere try some of Guy’s favorite dishes and decide for themselves if this place is truly “off the hook”.
Over all those years and then more than ever we constantly asked "when is another restaurant coming? Why are you waiting so long? Where will the next location be?" After fielding those questions and never having a specific answer, we finally found the perfect 2nd location and open it in May of 2012 so we could provide the Quality & Consistency of Magnolia that we pride ourselves on to more of San Antonio!
In 2016 our event center Magnolia Halle, was created to be able to provide our world best pancakes and new types of cuisine on a greater level. As Urban Barn with some old school charm, the Halle is able to capture that rustic Texas hill country feel while be centrally located next to our Huebner location.
Over the past 8 years, we have been able to be apart of countless weddings, birthday celebrations, holiday parties and so many more different types of events. We didn't know that when we opened the Halle that being able to be apart of so many people's joyous occasions would bring us so much joy as well!
Our growth story then comes to the year 2020, when we decided to add a 3rd restaurant location to the family in the great town of Cibolo, just north of San Antonio. We won't lie, trying to open this restaurant during the initial hit of the pandemic was quite a challenge. But in December of 2020 we opened our doors and haven't looked back! This location is a bit more modern than our other two, but pays a ode to our traditional, "grandma's kitchen style" but with a touch of modern day architecture.
Our final tail in our story (for now!) brings us to 2023 we moved our "Original" location from our home on Embassy Oaks to a bigger facility located just about 5 minutes down 281. It was a difficult decision and a bitter sweet goodbye, but we are happy to continue our growth in our new home!
In the past 24 years, The Magnolia Pancake Haus has grown beyond our wildest dreams and we continue to explore options to elevate what we do while continuing to focus on our original dream of providing the best dinning experience in SA.
San Antonio has given us a sense of community by supporting our dreams and we maintain our commitment to the community and our efforts to give back. We look forward to the next 24 years, and are thankful that folks have continued to stop by Our Haus for the best Hausmade breakfast in town!
